The area is rich with history and local attractions. Come visit the last remaining mill on the Muskingum River. Built in 1906 ny the Dover Brothers, at one time it produced Gold Bond Pastry Flour. It has since been renovated to a Country Inn. Today, the Stockport Mill Country Inn provides a beautiful view of the Stockport dam as well as fine dining. Visit the local Covered Bridges in Morgan County located in nearby Chesterhill and Malta. You can also enjoy hiking on the Buckeye Trail. Visit the Historic Opera House at McConnelsville where current movies are played Friday thru Monday. Admission is only $2.00 per person. If you enjoy boating, the Muskingum river boat ramp is only a few blocks away. You can also rent canoes and other watercraft at Stockport Canoeing and Watersports. The Wilds (North America's largest conservation facility) is located just 40 minutes north of McConnelsville on State Route 146. It is open daily from May Through October. If you enjoy antiquing, we are only 50 minutes away from historic Marietta, Ohio. Marietta was the first organized American settlement in the Northwest Territory in 1788. Visit historic downtown Marietta where there are over 70 unique gift shops and antique stores. |
